Who we are

Preserve the Town of Melbourne Beach Inc. is a group of residents who seek to keep the Town of Melbourne Beach, Florida, a safe, peaceful, family-oriented community. Our members range from those who grew up in the Town, long-time residents who’ve lived here for over 25 years, and residents who retired here to experience the small-town beach life for which Melbourne Beach is known.

Preserve the Town of Melbourne Beach Inc. was formed in 2023 because each of us, in our own experiences with different parts of the Town, began to realize the challenges Melbourne Beach faced. There are physical challenges, such as flooding of streets, yards, and structures during strong rain storms, as well as social challenges, such as the influx of strangers and noise brought in by the guests of short-term rentals (aka vacation rentals, Airbnbs, VRBOs). Others in the group noted environmental failings concerning the lagoon, unwanted changes in our parks and streets, unjustified spending of our tax dollars, and a trend by Town leaders to turn Melbourne Beach into a vacation destination. Once we began to pay close attention to the decisions our Town leaders were making, we decided to become proactive in preserving our community and way of life.

 What we do

  • Monitor the decisions, actions, and inaction of our Town leaders

  • Identify challenges that threaten the safety, health, and character of the Town

  • Engage in neighbor-to-neighbor dialogue to discuss community issues

  • Research issues and identify potential solutions for consideration by Town leaders

  • Advocate for the preservation of the Town while balancing managed growth

  • Promote mayoral and commissioner candidates who seek to Preserve the Town of Melbourne Beach
